Toyota Corolla in Central Region

Toyota Corolla test drive: "just a C-class" or "almost a Camry"? 04.06.2019 at 16:37 Updated: 04.06.2019 в 16:37 Roman Melnichenko Roman Melnichenko Today in the review is a car that is simply bound to become a bestseller - as it is written. However, the question is different: can Toyota Corolla surprise you with something special, except for enviable reliability, good comfort, profitable resale? Or are these three qualities already enough for future success in the world and in Ukraine? The Toyota Corolla is a C-class model that dates back to 1966. The first generation Corolla offered a body length of only 3.85 m and 1.1-1.2 liter engines. Further in the history of Corolla, you can find versions with a 2-3-speed "automatic", you can find WRC-cars, there were diesel engines and hybrids, hatchbacks and station wagons. The history of the Toyota Corolla is so extensive and multifaceted that you can write a separate article or even a book. Today, the Toyota Corolla has 12 generations, with a total of 46 million vehicles sold - this is one of the most Toyota Corolla in Central Region  popular and mass-produced vehicles in the world. The history of the model began more than half a century ago, today more than ten generations of the model have been released, and how many versions, bodies, modifications can not be counted at all. The current twelfth generation Toyota Corolla E210 was presented at the end of 2018, sales started in 2019. Unfortunately, only a sedan is presented in Ukraine - the Corolla hatchback (the name Auris remained in the past), which offers a unique appearance and a more powerful hybrid, did not reach us, and the station wagon, which offers a cross-version, did not reach us. Interestingly, they did not arrive "yet" or "at all"? Frankly speaking - no revelations. Sorry for the tautology. There is nothing exciting about the drive, but there are no failures in any of the key points. Acceleration of a hybrid car takes some getting used to: in fact, you control not so much the acceleration as the intensity of the acceleration. The start always takes place with the help of an electric motor, then the internal combustion engine comes into operation. Although it all depends on the actions of the driver: when the accelerator pedal is pressed sharply for dynamic acceleration, the internal combustion engine is connected to work almost from scratch; when the accelerator pedal is pressed smoothly, it can be accelerated only with the help of an electric motor. If you require a fairly intense acceleration, then the gasoline engine constantly works in the zone of 3-4 thousand rpm: we get a monotonous growl sound on one note, without trying to imitate gear changes. At the same time, the speed picks up quite quickly and at the same time very smoothly - literally seamless acceleration. And the hybrid powertrain does not have the slightest delay in pressing the accelerator pedal: no gear reset, no "eco" delays. How much I pressed, as soon as I pressed the pedal, I got acceleration right away. So it is similar with the steering: normal and adequate reactions to the steering wheel, although without any special highlights in handling. But Toyota Corolla is remembered for its "reinforced concrete" stability on a straight line and in a turn, even on broken asphalt. The novelty really looks like a miniature copy of the Camry: impressive and solid. However, it drives like a regular C-class car, nothing more. On the other hand, there is not a single failure in driving performance. The only caveat goes to the big (but beautiful!) Wheels and wide tires: I think the mid-size Corolla with 16-inch wheels will add softness and remove road noise. With the promised acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 11 seconds, in reality, the hybrid drives 11.6-11.9 seconds, but everything happens as smoothly and "seamlessly" as possible - an excellent setting for the interaction of the electric motor and the internal combustion engine. The mode switch almost does not affect the character: I did not catch the difference between “eco” and “normal”, only in “sports” the steering wheel becomes heavier, next to the selector of driving modes there is a button “EV MODE” (driving on electric traction). But let's be realistic: who will try to drive a sporty Toyota Corolla hybrid? Here stability, predictability of driving are more important - and all this is there. And the comfort and energy intensity of the suspension are also important ... And here we are waiting for the biggest comment on the driv https://jiji.com.gh/central-region/cars/toyota-corolla
