Ashok Leyland with engine and cab from Nissan will be sold in Russia
The Indian company Ashok Leyland, which specializes in the production of trucks and buses, has issued a Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) for Partner light and medium trucks in Russia. OTTS is the document that allows you to sell cars in the Russian Federation and other EAEU countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia).
Ashok Leyland Partner was certified in two modifications - with a lifting capacity of 1.2 and 4.8 tons. The cars also differ in length and wheelbase: for the first version, these parameters are 5280 and 2820 mm, respectively, for the second - 6096 and 3320 mm, respectively. The rest of the trucks are absolutely identical - they have unified engines, gearboxes, and the main pair. Partner is powered by a 3.0-liter Ashok Leyland ZD305103 turbodiesel with 140 hp. and a torque of 360 Nm. It is aggregated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. By the way, the engine is a licensed co Ashok leyland truck py of the legendary Nissan ZD30 turbodiesel.
Partner's cab is also of Japanese origin - it is taken from the Nissan Cabstar / Atlas truck of the F24 / H43 generation (produced in 2007-2013). But the headlights and design of the front part of the "Indian" are completely original.
It is still unknown when the new trucks will start selling in Russia and how much they will cost.
Note that two years ago Ashok Leyland tried to bring the heavier D80 and D120 trucks to the Russian market, apparently, the experiment was unsuccessful.
In 2010-2014. Russian bus manufacturer Volgabus collaborated with Ashok Leyland - it produced small buses of its own design on the Indian chassis, in terms of weight and dimensions they were close to the "grooves". The devaluation of the ruble in 2014 made this project unprofitable (Indian chassis became too expensive), and the cooperation ended.
Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian army could replace the Soviet GAZ-66 with Indian Ashok Leyland in its fleet.
